Judicial Boards

A judicial board's main function deals with reviewing cases brought before the Justices and governing bodies, to ensure compliance with the rules and governing doctrines associated with each club. At Penn State, you have the opportunity to interact with multiple judicial boards. I happen to sit on three of them, as a University Park Undergraduate Association Justice National Panhellenic Council Justice and Student Organization Conduct Committee Justice. Each has its own tasks and difficulties, but as with anything, I have learned to manage with time and practice.

The UPUA’s Judicial Board (J-Board) is lead by the Chief Justice and is comprised of nine total members tasked with presiding over all UPUA internal conflicts, and overseeing the actions of the UPUA, ensuring compliance with internal bylaws, policies, and governing documents.

The Student Organization Conduct Committee (SOCC) is comprised of both students and staff to help educate recognized student organizations on applicable Penn State policies and procedures. Our goal is to help provide an equal opportunity for the student organizations on campus. It also falls under our duties to discipline organizations when applicable, helping to protect Penn State's image and integrity.

The members of the Panhellenic Judicial Board will conduct a fair and unbiased hearings, maintaing the proper documentation. One key responsibility deals with disaffiliating from their chapter during the time of recruitment to assist the executive board in dealing with recruitment issues and responsibilities.
